Ten thousand years ago, the immortal king Muyun was betrayed by others for possessing the powerful Zhu Xiantu.
After spending ten thousand years in a deep sleep, his remnant soul wakes up in the Southern
Cloud Empire of the Heavenly Fate continent, specifically in the area known as “Trash Muyun”.
Upon waking, he is met with hostility from a student named Miao Xianyu, who sets traps for him.
However, Muyun easily overcomes these obstacles and shares his alchemy skills with others, leaving them in awe.
When he returns home, he learns that he is arranged to marry Qin Mengyao,
a woman suffering from a cold and poison affliction that will cause her to die before the age of twenty.
The marriage is solely for the benefit of the Mu and Qin families, but after persuasion
from Mu Linchen, Muyun agrees to the marriage on the condition that he can use alchemy to try and save her.
After creating a bone quenching pill, Muyun’s cultivation improves for the first time. Mo Wen, a friend of Muyun, often seeks his advice and Qin Shiyu, Mengyao’s grandfather, asks Mo Wen to try and cure her.
Muyun accidentally awakens the Zhu Xiantu within him and discovers that Mengyao’s affliction is not a cold poison, but the ice phoenix spirit.
He is able to cure Mengyao and her powers as the Ice Phoenix Soul improve drastically.
After seeing Muyun’s abilities, Mengyao becomes curious and interested in him and becomes his tutor at Beiyun College.
However, Dongfang Jade, who had unrequited feelings for Mengyao, becomes jealous and vows to sabotage Muyun.
Muyun uses the Zhu Xiantu to improve his cultivation and goes to the Beiyun Mountains to practice, with Miao Xianyu joining him.
On their journey, Muyun kills a dozen purple-haired wolves by himself, leaving Xianyu in shock.
The four evil spirits of Liushan, who were assigned to assassinate the assassination
screen movement, follow them and take advantage of Muyun’s weakened state to attack him.
